After releasing two amazing albums, you can imagine my excitement when I heard my favorite band, The Academy Is..., was working on another. Santi, the highlight album of my life, didn't contain a single song that I didn't love with every fiber of my being. After meeting The Academy Is... in person, I was convinced that they were the most amazing people on Earth. They were so real. I talked to them about shoelaces, for the love of God. Wow, I loved The Academy Is....
Their third album, Fast Times At Barrington High, will be released August 19th. Will I be purchasing said album? Absolutely not. Why?
After building up the new album for months through a number of blog posts, videos, and interviews, I was beginning to get excited about it. when two new singles were released online, I listened to them immediately. They were less than satisfactory. Not only are they completely different than the usual TAI songs, which I would understand, but they just outright sucked. The lyrics are simple. The music is pop-y. They just feel empty. I feel empty...
But enough about me, let's talk about the band.
Last night I saw the band at Warped Tour. I figured why not since they were only going to perform the two new songs, and the rest would be their older good ones. Boy, was I dissappointed. They wore different clothes, played new instruments, had almost a completely different attitude. I guess it would have been a lot better if they didn't talk about the new album between every song. "Who's listened to our new songs," "This is what we've been trying to write for so long," "This is the best album we've written of all time." It's like they were trying to make me angry. They made it seem like ever being good was a mistake.
The old TAI will always have a place with me. But as far as I'm concerned, the new TAI are a completely different band.
If you haven't finished Harry Potter 7, I urge you not to read onward.
Anyway, this book has made me realize my love for Severus Snape. His love for Lily makes him seem so vulnerable. I think I've always liked him subconciously from the beginning. He's always seemed mean, but surely not EVIL. Everyone is entitled to dislike someone, even if their dislike is a little... extreme. Granted, his choice to join the Death Eaters was a bad one, but who can honestly say they haven't made one mistake in their lives. And in the long run, he saw the light. His connection to Voldemort actually helped Dumbledore. In the end, he was a good guy. I knew I was always right about him.
When I first heard JK Rowling say she might kill off Harry, I thought "That's an interesting point of view, but it'll never happen." However, in the passing months, everyone seemed to think up more and more evidence aluding to Harry's ultimate death. This had me convinced that it was most likely Harry would die. I've seen people finish the book and respond with "shoot me." so naturally I braced myself for the worst. But I finished the book and Harry Potter has emerged unscathed.
The saddest moment in the story was when Harry went into Snape's memories and Snape was crying over Lily's death. Wow.
But in the midst of all this confusion, was Fred's death necessary. I can see why Lupin and Tonks would leave an impression, having just had a child. And both of them were really important characters anyway. But Fred's death was completely pointless. He died from a random blast, the origin of which nobody is aware, leaving behind nothing but his enormous family and a sole, one-eared owner of Weasley's Wizarding Weezes. Why did Fred have to die?
Anyway, I am increasing relieved that Harry is still alive. I can't express in words...
Well, I just got an e-mail from Borders. The title has been released for the 7th Harry Potter and it's Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. Sounds promising. Well, I just reserved it and come July 7th, I'll be waiting at the bookstore with a thousand other crazed Harry Potter fans. I'd hate to be the person that gets in their way....
They were talking about the book on the news just now and the reporter said he likes the movies more than the books. At that moment I heard the entire population of HP fanatics across the country gasp. Who would say such a thing on public television? Muggles...
A few months ago I started watching Samurai Champloo. I immediately fell in love. I mean, what's not to love about Samurai Champloo? There's action, scandal, and just when you think you know what's going on.... something else happens. Not to mention it's hilarious and historically correct (technically, it's historical fiction but whatever). In Samurai Champloo, the good guys are still the bad guys.
Anyway, after watching a few episodes I kind of stopped watching it for a while until about last month. I just figured out that there are only 26 episodes. And I just watched the last one.
Bummer.
Well, I don't want to spoil it in case anybody wants to watch it but I can assure you there were a lot of surprises, and even more blood. And it was the last episode. What am I supposed to do now? I'm lost.
Somebody please help to fill the empty space inside of me....
July 13th. I'm so excited for Harry Potter And The Order Of The Pheonix. I practically have a seizure every time I watch the trailer. And I'm surprised I didn't get kicked out of the movie theater yesterday when it came on and I let out an involuntary screech. However, I haven't been looking it up as much as I usually would. I did hear that "Weasley Is Our King" isn't going to be in it... yeah, I got pretty upset. They seem to have casted the perfect people, with the exception of *cough* Luna Lovegood *cough*. Evanna Lynch looks so smart. Was I mistaken or wasn't Luna supposed to be a bit of a basketcase? Hence the nickname "Loony Luna Lovegood." They'll probably mess up a bunch of other things so I might as well get over them now....
Speaking of Loony Luna, I found an excellent song called "Luna Is OK" by a band I never knew existed until today called Harry And The Potters. Yeah. They also sing songs such as "Ron Got A Howler" and "The Human Hosepipe" (haha, about Cho Chang). And I found their MySpace. Add them. :]

Yeah. Your drawings are really nice. The book is good. I was so surprised at the end. ^_^ read more
